Heroes share awards, lunch, laughter during luncheon

Local heroes were honored Tuesday at the boisterous and cheerful annual Chickasha Public Schools Foundation luncheon.
Heroes from every school in the district, as well as the fire department and police department were given etched glass plaques to commemorate their service to the community.
“Our purpose it to promote and support excellence in our schools and community and today’s theme is heroes,” Terry Winn, chairman of the foundation, said. “We believe that when you recognize an individual for a job well done, you encourage others to do the same…Unless attention is paid to excellence mediocrity will surely prevail.”
Winn led the awards ceremony and graciously thanked the numerous teachers, police and firefighters present.
“These heroes do not wear capes or leap buildings in a single bound, but they are heroes all the same,” Winn said.
