Chickasha Public School Foundation Presents Grants to Teachers

Chickasha Public School teachers and students were visited by Board members of the Chickasha Public School Foundation (CPSF) on Wednesday, May 11, 2011.   BWECC, Southwest, Grand, Lincoln & CMS locations had recipients where the grants were presented before the entire school body.  CHS Grants will be distributed on Friday.

CPSF board member and grants & scholarships chairman, Joyce Black, stated, “It is an honor to be able to distribute approximately $36,000 in grants to the teachers.  Every child deserves a great foundation and we are here to help.”  70 Grants were given out and this year some partial funding was provided.  Over $136,000 with 98 applications were received by the Foundation for consideration.

In the 25 year history of the Foundation over $600,000 has been given to teachers for items in the classroom to engage our students in the learning process.  Joyce said “We would have loved to fund 100% of the requests.  Every project is worthy but funding was not possible for 28 of the grant applications.”  She went on to say, “We simply did not have enough funds for all the grant requests and we encourage those teachers who did not get funding this year to continue to apply next year.  Grants are not possible without the continued support of our donors, members, sponsors and partners in this community.  We thank them for valuing education and their generosity.”
