CPSF History
The Chickasha Public School Foundation (CPSF) was created in 1985 and incorporated in 1986 to provide additional educational opportunities for Chickasha Public School students. In 2011, CPSF celebrated it's 25th anniversary.
The original founders were Kenneth Glazier (former Chickasha Superintendent of Schools 1985-1988), Veda Bush, Loretta Jackson, Robert Hays, John Mosley, Jerry Kirkpatrick, Dr. Alan Weedn, Beverly Carter, Carroll VanDyck and Dan Ramsey. Many caring area residents have served the organization as members of the Board of Directors from that time to the present.
The first major contribution was a $5,000 donation from the Kiwanis Club of Chickasha, and over the next year private citizens, organizations, and businesses in the area donated an additional $15,000. Through generous ongoing contributions, investments have grown today to over $1,000,000.
In 2006 a new milestone was reached in the history of CPSF. The board hired it's very first employee. Roddy McKenzie was hired as development director and began putting procedures in place to get the foundation records and history organized. He also began the tremenendous process of laying the ground work for a sustaining membership campaign. Roddy educated the community about the Foundation and worked diligently to publicize the efforts of the Foundation and it's work with the schools. He was a tremendous asset while he served the foundation. Due to health reasons, Roddy's service ended in June 2008. In February, 2009 the Board hired the very first Executive Director, Lou Christian, to follow in Roddy's huge footsteps and to carry on the work of the Foundation. Great strides were made with implementation of the Board's vision for a Sustaining Membership Campaign and under her leadership and direction, $450,000 was raised toward the goal of $1,000,000 in less than 2 1/2 years.
In March 2009 another milestone was reached and twenty three years from its inception, CPSF opened its very first office in the CPS Administration Building at 900 W. Choctaw, Chickasha, OK.
The Foundation has had tremendous support from individuals, alumni, community and corporate citizens of Chickasha. Their support has enabled thousands of Chickasha students to receive educational benefits through the years.
